As per 2012 the island has a population of approximately 107,000.00 inhabitants. Aruba claims over 45 nationalities living and working together in harmony. The islanders are from a mixed ancestry from European, Indian and African ancestry.


The official language on the island is Dutch and the native language of Papiamento is a mixture of different languages into one. Other languages widely spoken fluently are English and Spanish.

Geography & Climate

Aruba is a small arid island protected from the hurricane belt. It is 19.6 miles long and 6 miles wide for a total of 77 square miles or 193 square kilometers. It is at a 12 30 north latitude; 70 west longitude. We are set on Atlantic Standard Time one hour ahead of New York except during daylight savings when the time is the same. Annual average temperature is of 83 degrees with a suiting water temperature of 80 degrees.

Aruba meets the highest standards of quality in the world. Distilled in one of the planets biggest desalination plants it provides fresh and safe water. Electricity is the same as in the United States at 110 volts AC ( 60 cycles )

Government / Political Structure

From January 1986 the island became a separate entity within the Kingdom of The Netherlands which is overseen by the Constitutional Monarchy with a democratically elected government. The Chief of State is the Governor, appointed by the Queen of the Netherlands to represent her for a period of 6 years. The Dutch Kingdom still is responsible for the island’s defense and external affairs. The Head of Government is the Prime Minister elected every four years who holds power with a Council of Ministers and is sustained by a Parliament made up of 21 members.

The island accepts either US dollars or Aruban Florins. One American dollar equals between 1.75 to 1.80 florins. Most banks are open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Driving & Public Transportation

American and International driver’s licenses are valid. European rules of the road and signs are used. Buses operate daily from Arashi area, Hotels, Oranjestad to San Nicolas. Hours of operation are from 5:45 AM to 11:30 PM with a limited schedule on Sundays and Holidays. The central bus station is located in downtown Oranjestad across from the Cruise Terminal.
